A fanzine is an amateur or fan-produced magazine containing stories and art created by fans about a particular subject. Fanzine contributors are not paid for their work, except by a free copy of the fanzine and fanzine publishers should only charge enough for an issue to make back their printing and postage costs. Fanzines that contain fanfiction about copyrighted works such as movies, TV shows, or books should have prominent disclaimers stating that they are not attempting to infringe on the copyright. Fans have been writing and publishing Star Wars fanzines since 1977 when the first Star Wars movie was released. Many of the stories on this site were written for fanzines in the 80s and reflect early fan theories on what would happen in the later movies. Fanzines not only print new stories like the ones archived on this site, but also art, poetry, filksongs, and cartoons. Most stories are illustrated by fan artists, and some zines have color artwork on the front and back covers. If a fanzine is described as a "general Star Wars zine" then it contains stories focusing on Han, Luke, Leia, Obi-wan, Qui-Gon and the other major characters. If a fanzine emphasizes one character over the others, or one trilogy over the other, that will be mentioned in the description. To Star Wars fanzine editors: if you would like your zine listed on this directory, have a zine web site or would like to post a notice about currently available used zines, please contact Site Administrator. On request we will also announce new zines on our mailing list. The Captain and the King The Captain and the King by plasticchevy. A Boromir and Aragorn GEN full length novel. Only a few copies are left. Alternate Universe, post The Fellowship of the Ring. Boromir does not die at the battle of Amon Hen, but he is wounded and then blinded by a blow with a sword. He and Aragorn, also wounded, are taken captive by the orcs on Saruman's orders. Both men wind up in the dungeons of Isengard, but are rescued, and taken to Edoras. And that's just the first couple of chapters. All the characters play their parts, but it focuses on Aragorn, Boromir and Merry. It returns Boromir to Minas Tirith by the most amazing and heroic means (not to mention nail biting!), and then the adventure really begins! It goes some way beyond the final victory against Sauron, too, as Boromir faces deadly opposition from those who believe a blind man is not fit to be Steward. But Aragorn has sworn he will have Boromir as his Steward or he will have none. The bond between the two men has been forged in the hell of Isengard and nothing can break it. This novel is also available online if you'd rather not pay for a copy in print. The author's penname is plasticchevy. The zine version has color covers of original art work done by the most talented LOTR fan artists and some chapter illustrations. Cost should be around $20 US plus postage. Resurrection RESURRECTION A new STAR WARS publication Premiering May, 2004, at MEDIAWEST CON 24 It is 500 years after the fall of the Empire. The New Republic rose and from it, out of necessity for the survival of the galaxy, grew the Galactic Alliance. From newly discovered historical documents, and personal journals truths, once shrouded in myth and legend, begin to emerge about lives and events long distorted by the passage of time. These lost histories, presented in chronological order, include the following and more: From a Certain Point of View: Deeply troubled by the suspicion that Qui-Gon Jinn had manipulated the Force to help young Anakin Skywalker win the pod race on Tatooine, Obi-Wan Kenobi resolves to confront his Jedi Master. To Know My Enemy: Obi-Wan experiences a frightening Force vision of Anakin's future that challenges everything he has ever believed about his decision to train young Skywalker. Nothing By Chance: During the flight to Alderaan, a seemingly innocent conversation with Ben Kenobi only deepens Han Solo's suspicions about his mysterious passengers. Shadow Dream: Held as captive bait with his friends to lure Luke Skywalker into Darth Vader's trap, Chewbacca experiences some profound dreams about the future. The Hell Within: Anxious to rescue Han from Jabba, Leia is confronted about her relationship with the smuggler as well as reminded of her indispensable role in the Rebel Alliance. At the same time, Luke is assaulted by an unexpected connection through the Force. Stormbound: After the escape from Jabba, Luke and his friends are forced to seek shelter during a colossal sand storm. But finding refuge from the forces of nature proves easier than that of unexpected company, private demons or growing misgivings. The Dark Side of Victory: The victory of the Battle of Endor is bittersweet for Leia. Haunted by the new knowledge of her real parentage, she must face the possible consequences of making her notorious lineage known. Ghosts: His youngest son's nightmares mirror Han Solo's own haunted visions about a past he cannot remember but obsessively seeks to uncover. {Rated NC-17} Spectres of the Past: A sequel to Ghosts, secret Jedi historical data only serves to intensify the mystery surrounding Han Solo's unknown past. Rated G to NC17, all material in RESURRECTION revolves around the core characters from both trilogy films and the expanded universe. Some stories are teasers for others. As with the Force, everything is connected For further information contact: s.rutherford2@verizon.net or druidwolf7@yahoo.com { Disclaimer: RESURRECTION --- published by Revisionist Press, Ltd. and edited by Skye Rutherford and Seren Kennard --- is a non-profit, amateur publication and is not intended to infringe upon the rights of George Lucas or LucasFilms, Ltd. } NOTE: Aquarius and Corellian embassy are NOT responsible for the content of the zines advertised here or for the exchange of money.
